Anthem Medicare Supplement Enrollment Increases 16,000 in 3rd Quarter 2019
Anthem, Inc. released 3rd quarter 2019 financials on October 23rd, adding 16,000 Medicare Supplement lives in the 3rd quarter and 47,000 Medicare Supplement lives in 2019 to date. The Anthem enrollment table below features Medicare Supplement policy in-force counts of 893,000 as of 9/30/2019, a 56,000 increase in the past year. The 56,000 lives growth in the past year is a 6.7% increase over the in-force lives at 3rd quarter 2018. CSG Actuarial projects Anthem’s Medicare Supplement sales at 4th in the overall market over the past 12 months.
CVS Health Medicare Supplement Enrollment Increases 23,000 in 3rd Quarter 2019
For 3rd quarter 2019, Aetna reported Medicare Supplement member in-force counts of 842,000, up 23,000 from 2nd quarter 2019 and 67,000 over the past 12 months. The 18,000 increase in membership during 3rd quarter 2019 was 5,000 greater than the membership growth in 3rd quarter 2018. Humana Medicare Supplement Enrollment Increases 10,000 in 3rd Quarter 2019
Humana reported 3rd quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement lives of 286,600, a 3.8% increase over 2nd quarter 2019 and a 16.2% increase over 3rd quarter 2018. The 10,600 increase in membership during 3rd quarter 2019 was more than double the membership growth in 3rd quarter 2018. The table below shows Humana’s Medicare Supplement enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2011. Humana also reported 2nd quarter 2018 Medicare Supplement premiums of $150 million, up 16% from 3rd quarter 2018. CNO Financial Group Reports Medicare Supplement Sales in 3rd Quarter 2019
CNO Financial Group (parent company of Bankers Life & Casualty, Washington National, and Colonial Penn) reported 3rd quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement sales of $14.2 million, up 2% from 3rd quarter 2018. For the past 12 months CNO Financial Group reported Medicare Supplement sales of $59.0 million, ranking in the top 10 in the Medicare Supplement market. CNO Financial Group also reported 3rd quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement earned premiums of $190 million, down $1 million from 2nd quarter 2019 results.
