CVS Health Reports Results for 1st Quarter 2019
CVS Health completed its acquisition of Aetna in November 2018 and the results reported below for 4th quarter 2018 thru 1st quarter 2019 are for CVS Health. Any information for prior periods is from previously reported results from Aetna.
For 1st quarter 2019, CVS Health reported Medicare Supplement member in-force counts of 804,000, up 56,000 from Aetna’s reported results for 1st quarter 2018. Humana reported 1st quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement lives of 267,300, a 5.1% increase over 4th quarter 2018 and a 12.0% increase over 1st quarter 2018. The 13,000 increase in membership during 1st quarter 2019 was the highest quarterly membership increase since 1st quarter 2016. Humana also reported 1st quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement premiums of $140 million, 12.0% higher than the premiums in 1st quarter 2018. CNO Financial Group Reports Medicare Supplement Sales in 1st Quarter 2019
CNO Financial Group reported 1st quarter 2019 Medicare Supplement sales of $12.4 million, down 4% from 1st quarter 2018. CNO Financial Group reported Medicare Supplement sales over the past 12 months of $58.5 million, down 7% from the previous 12 month period. Based on projections from CSG Actuarial, the $58.5 million of sales for CNO Financial Group over the past 12 months ranked in the top 10 of the Medicare Supplement market.
