CSG Actuarial has compiled information from the NAIC* and other sources and is reporting that total earned premiums in the Medicare Supplement market in 2023 totaled $36.8 billion, a 1.8% increase over 2022.

The states with the most Medicare Supplement lives are California, Texas, and Florida, with 8.0%, 6.7%, and 6.6%, respectively, of the total. A chart showing all states is as follows:
The states with the highest percentage of Medicare Supplement lives relative to the total Medicare lives are Wyoming, Nebraska, and Iowa with 46.9%, 44.9%, and 43.4%, respectively. A chart showing all states is as follows:
