Medicare Supplement market leader United Healthcare (UHC) released 4th quarter 2022 financials on January 13th, reporting a 5,000 increase in Medicare Supplement lives in the 4th quarter.  The UHC enrollment table below features Standardized and Modernized policy in-force counts of 4,375,000 as of 12/31/2022, a 20,000 decrease in 2022.  The 20,000 decrease in lives in 2022 is a 0.5% decrease over the in-force as of 12/31/2021.

This UHC enrollment table shows Medicare Advantage enrollment counts of 7,105,000 as of 12/31/2022, a 615,000 increase in 2022.  The 615,000 enrollment increase in the past year is a 9.5% increase over the Medicare Advantage enrollment counts as of 12/31/2021.

This combined UHC enrollment table shows Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage enrollment counts of 11,480,000 as of 12/31/2022, a 595,000 increase in the past year.  The 595,000 enrollment increase in the past 12 months is a 5.5% increase over the combined enrollment counts as of 12/31/2021.   UHC’s combined Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage enrollment of 11,480,000 at 12/31/2022 is approximately 18% of the overall Medicare enrollment at that same point in time.
